Sophia Mahoney

PhD Candidate

Sophia received her B.S. in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz where she competed on the university Cross Country and Track and Field teams. After graduating, she moved to the wine country region of California to perform chemical analyses on wine in production. Next, she conducted post-baccalaureate research at the Buck Institute on Aging studying cancer and developmental therapeutic in Dr. Christopher Benz’s laboratory. She is currently a third year PhD student studying the role of cellular senescence and the associated secretome on vascular aging. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, trail running and travelling.
