Yara Bernaldo de Quirós Miranda

PhD

Yara is a visiting scholar from Spain on a Marie Curie Fellowship. She joined the IPA laboratory in 2021 to study the role of the human gut microbiome in modulating age-associated aortic stiffening, which is an independent predictor of future cardiovascular diseases and mortality in older adults. In the project’s second phase, Yara will return to Spain to study this relationship in whales and dolphins, as a potential model of healthy vascular aging. Outside of the lab, Yara enjoys hiking and dancing.
